First Anniversary of Danshun Swann Murder: Investigation Still Active

The 27th of August is the one year anniversary of the murder of Mr. Danshun Swann. Danshun was stabbed to death on South Road Southampton, just outside of the entrance to the Southampton Rangers Sports Club shortly after midnight Monday 27th August 2018. This investigation is an active investigation and detectives are renewing their appeal for witnesses to come forward.



Sudden Death of 68 Year Old Kathleen Emam

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 68 year old Kathleen Emam, who was visiting Bermuda with her husband onboard the cruise ship Norwegian Escape and extends sincere condolences to Mr. Emam, their family and friends. Mrs. Emam, from New York U.S.A. was initially said to be 62 years old.



Jet Ski Inicident in Waters Off Somerset [Updated]

Around 2:10pm Thursday, August 22nd police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a Jet Ski incident in waters off Somerset. Details are limited at this time. However, early information indicates that a female visitor who was apparently a passenger on a Jet Ski fell off and became unresponsive during a tour.



BPS Officer Wins Silver Medal at 2019 World Police & Fire Games

The Bermuda Police Service was represented by three officers at the 2019 World Police & Fire Games that were recently held in Chengdu, China from August 9th – 18th. Constable Jeana Jones ran in the five kilometre cross country event, Constable Kyle Godfrey competed in three track and field events: the 100 metres, 400 metres and long jump, while Constable Ralshon Douglas participated in ten pin bowling.



Residents: Be Wary of New Social Media Scam & Recurring Phishing Scams

The Bermuda Police Service is aware of a new social media scam currently in circulation that has already deceived at least three people locally this week. Residents are recruited through an Instagram account belonging to a person purporting to be Jessie_Jae_Allen, that solicits the transfer of no less than $200 to Jamaica via Blue Nile Services, an agent of Western Union.



Constable Krishna Singh New Southampton Parish Constable

Constable Krishna Singh has been appointed the new Parish Constable for Southampton. Sergeant Cerepha Bridgeman, the previous Parish Constable for Southampton, was recently promoted from Constable to Sergeant and expressed her gratitude to the residents of Southampton for their support during her time as Parish Constable.



Joint Agency Command Centre Contributed to Safer Cup Match 2019

Cup Match 2019, held at the St. George’s Cricket Club (SGCC), was the first to feature a Joint Agency Command Centre where the host club as well as representatives from the Ministry of National Security, Bermuda Police Service (BPS), Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service, Royal Bermuda Regiment, Bermuda Hospitals Board, Department of Health (Environmental Health Section), Department of Planning, St. John Ambulance and SAS Protection Services worked together to ensure the 117th annual cricket classic was as safe as possible.



Renewed Witness Appeal on Third Anniversary of Jason Mello Murder

Detectives are renewing their appeal for information in connection with the murder of Jason Mello. Jason Mello was fatally shot around 7:35pm Friday 19th August 2016, three years ago, whilst on Band Room Lane, Pembroke. The gunman is believed to have entered Band Room Lane wearing a full face visor helmet and heavy dark coloured winter clothing that would have been unusual on a hot August evening.



Reported Missing Teen: 13 Year Old Niasia Pitcher [Located]

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 13 year old Niasia Pitcher. The teen was last seen at her Smiths Avenue, Warwick home around 10pm Tuesday, August 13th and reported missing 8:20am today (Wednesday, August 14th). She is described as light complexioned, approximately 5 feet tall of slim build, with reddish hair and is known to frequent the School Lane, Sandys parish area. So far efforts by police officers to locate Niasia, including in the School Lane, Sandys parish area, have been unsuccessful. Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of 13 year old Niasia Pitcher is encouraged to call the main police telephone number 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity. Update: The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating 13 year old Niasia Pitcher. She returned home safe and well around 6:20pm.



BPS Celebrates Graduates of Historic Close Protection Officers’ Course

At a 1:30pm Friday, August 9th ceremony held at Police Headquarters in Prospect, Devonshire seven police officers successfully completed a four and a half week long Close Protection Officers’ course, conducted by the Bermuda Police Service (BPS). There were three local police officers (two women and one man) on the course, as well as four male police officers from the British Virgin Islands (BVI).



Overturned Car in Sandys Parish [Updated]

Around 2:50pm Wednesday, August 7th police received a report of an overturned car on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the Somerset MarketPlace. Early information suggests that no one was seriously injured. However, traffic delays are expected in the area while the scene is processed.



Reported Single Vehicle Motorcycle Crash on Store Hill [Updated]

Around 8:55pm Monday, August 5th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash on Store Hill in Smith’s parish. Early information suggests that the male rider came into contact with a wall before crashing. He was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance and at last check was unconscious.



First Year for Joint Agency Command Centre at Cup Match 2019 & BRSC Statement

Sussex Police to Assist BPS Preparations for Bermuda’s First Pride Parade

The Commissioner of Police has revealed that two of his most experienced officers will attend Brighton’s Pride Parade in the UK this weekend. Regarded as one of the world’s biggest celebration events for LGBTQ communities, Superintendent Sean Field-Lament and Sergeant Brian MacNab will meet colleagues from Sussex Police to assist the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) in planning for Bermuda’s first Pride Parade at the end of August.



Renewed Witness Appeal: 2017 Murder of Jahkoby Smith

Today, Monday 29th July 2019, marks the 2nd anniversary of the murder of Jahkoby Smith and detectives are renewing their appeal for information in connection with his callous killing. Mr. Smith was fatally stabbed two years ago on Saturday, 29th July 2017 at the West End Sailboat Club in Sandys parish, where the wake for murder victim Jahcari Francis was taking place.



Renewed Appeal for Information One Year After Taylor Grier Murder

Detectives are renewing their appeal for information in connection with the murder of Taylor Grier. Mr. Grier was fatally shot on Friday 27th July 2018, one year ago whilst on Court Street, Pembroke, when two men on a motorcycle wearing dark clothing and full face visor helmets descended south on Tills Hill in the area of Elliot Street in the City of Hamilton.



Fifth Road Fatality of 2019: 19 Year Old Talundae Grant

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 19 year old Mr. Talundae Grant and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends. Mr. Grant – understood to be a Warwick resident – was seriously injured in a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred around 1:55am Saturday, July 27th on Malabar Road in Sandys parish, near Cochrane Road.



Maritime Search for 29 Year Old Man Reported Missing From a Boat [Updated]

Around 1:55am Saturday, July 27th police received a report that a 29 year old man was missing from a boat and believed to have fallen overboard. It appears that the local man took part in a cruise on a private vessel with several other passengers and was last seen aboard the boat as it travelled back from Paradise Lakes to Albuoy’s Point.



Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Malabar Road [Updated]

Around 1:55am Saturday, July 27th police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service and ambulance personnel responded to a reported serious single vehicle crash on Malabar Road in Sandys parish involving a motorcyclist. It appears that the rider, believed to be a 19 year old man, was traveling west on Malabar Road at the time. He was found seriously injured, in an unresponsive state and was rushed from the scene via ambulance.



Car Crash on South Road in Warwick [Updated]

Friday, July 26,2019

Around 3:45am Friday, July 26th a reported single vehicle crash occurred on South Road in Warwick, in the vicinity of Southlands, involving a car and a utility pole. Early information suggests that the driver was not seriously injured and was the vehicle’s only occupant. BELCO personnel are on scene to repair the downed utility pole and traffic diversions are in effect in the area until further notice.
