The Bermuda Police Service would like to take this opportunity to clarify the circumstances regarding the death of 88 year old Peter Woolcock.
It was initially reported that pedestrian Mr. Woolcock was struck by a car on Par-La-Ville Road in Pembroke around 10am Thursday, December 4th in the vicinity of the Royal Gazette offices.
However, subsequent analysis from the Traffic Collision Investigator suggests that Mr. Woolcock fell from the sidewalk onto the passing car, likely due to a pre-existing medical condition he was suffering from at the time.
In addition, Mr. Woolcock was not struck by the car on the sidewalk and was not on a marked pedestrian crossing at the time of the incident.
Mr. Woolcock’s family has already been made aware of these findings and his death still marks the 13th road fatality for 2014. |
