Man Charged With Sandys Parish Remembrance Day Firearm Incident

Acting Assistant Commissioner James Howard - Just over a week ago I stood in front of the media and public of Bermuda and made a pledge that the Bermuda Police Service would do everything in our power to bring the perpetrators of shootings that took place on Remembrance Day to justice.

To date, a 29 year old Sandys parish man has been placed before the courts and we are following up other significant lines of enquiry. I would like to publicly say thank you to the members of the public who have faith in us and the process and have come forward with helpful information.

However there are still persons in our community who have valuable information that we can use regarding the two shootings that took place on Remembrance Day.

We are asking you to be bold, be strong and come forward. Please contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

Again, thank you to those who have already come forward and remember - if you see something, say something.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Dave Greenidge – This morning 29 year old Germiko Williams appeared before the court charged with the shooting that injured four men outside the Somerset Cricket Club on Remembrance Day. He faced six charges – four related to the injuries sustained by the four victims, as well as two firearm related charges.

At this time we have another male in custody and we will be taking a certain course of investigative action in relation to him.

As Acting Assistant Commissioner Howard said, I want to thank those who have assisted us with the investigation so far. We have had a very positive community response after last week’s shootings and we want that cooperation to continue.

With the public’s continued assistance, we look forward to a high level of success in relation to the investigation of firearm incidents.

All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
