Fifth Road Fatality of 2014

Police can now confirm the death of 60 year Daniel Bruce Laubacher of Wilmington Delaware who was a guest on board the Norwegian Cruise line. Daniel was traveling east along Cockburn Road in Sandys on a livery cycle, with a pillion passenger, when it appears that he veered into the westbound lane and collided with a boundary wall and a tree along the sidewalk.

The 60 year old man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:15pm Thursday. A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to his local support system and his overseas family. PC Colin Paynter of the Roads Policing Unit is the lead investigator and any witnesses to this fatality or anyone who may have information to the last movements of Laubacher prior to the collision is asked to contact him on 295-0011 or cpaynter@bps.bm.

This is the 5th road traffic fatality for 2014 and the Bermuda Police Service would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.


All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
