Volunteers Boost Search Efforts for Missing Canadian Visitor

Today, coordinated efforts by the Bermuda Regiment, Department of Corrections and H.M. Customs personnel as well as family members and local residents will see in excess of 100 volunteers searching for missing 67 year old Canadian visitor William ‘Bill’ Grange, who was last seen on the evening of Friday, May 2nd at his vacation accommodation, the Cambridge Beaches Resort in Sandys parish.

It is anticipated that more family members will be travelling to the island this week to further assist ongoing search efforts.

Mr. Grange, who suffers from short term memory loss, was last seen wearing beige pants, a blue shirt, brown jacket and brown shoes. He is described as a Caucasian male, 5'9" tall with white hair and by now likely a few days beard growth.

If someone fitting the description of Mr. Grange is seen, members of the public are urged to engage with the individual and contact police immediately.

This morning, two police Marine Unit boats with a contingent of family members have begun a boat to boat search of the moored vessels in the Mangrove Bay, Cambridge Beaches Resort area.

In addition, 30 land based police officers along with several police cadets will conduct further searches in various areas. All hospital facilities have been checked without success and officers continue to follow up on all alleged sightings of the missing 67 year old Canadian visitor island-wide.

Checks at the following accommodations have failed to locate Mr. Grange:

5.  Greene's Guest House

6.  Sandpiper Apartments

7.  South View Guest Apts.

8.  Top Hat Guest House

10. The Reefs

11. Pompano Beach Club

12. Granaway Guest House

13. Fairmount Southampton Princess

14. 9 Beaches

15. Aunt Nea’s Inn

16. Brightside Guest House

17. Clearview Guest House  

Searches including but not limited to the below areas have been conducted and will continue:

  1. Evans Bay
  2. Monkey Hole Hill
  3. Jennings Bay Road
  4. Highpoint Lane
  5. Wreck Hill Road
  6. The Railway Trails as far as Southampton
  7. Whale Bay area
  8. Port Royal Golf Course
  9. Boaz Island
  10. Fort Scaur
  11. Willow Bank
  12. Long Bay Lane area
  13. Daniels Head area
  14. Cambridge Beaches Resort and surrounding environs
  15. Area of 9 Beaches property
  16. Lagoon Park
  17. Westover Farm
  18. Kings Point
  19. Environs of Dockyard / Malabar / Moresby Plains area
  20. Jennings Road, Smith’s parish
  21. Spittal Pond area
  22. Horseshoe Beach area
  23. Grotto Bay Hotel

Marine search areas have included:

  1. Shoreline searches of the area of Mangrove Bay, Cambridge Beaches, Ely’s Harbour
  2. All small islands within the above area
  3. Shoreline searches of North Shore, Admiralty House and Flatts Area
  4. Checking boats in the Mangrove Bay area

Once again, anyone who may have seen or who may have any information on the whereabouts of missing 67 year old Canadian visitor Mr. William ‘Bill’ Grange is urged to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 immediately, reporting all relevant information.


All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
