Airport Update

From the Government Department of Communication & Information (DCI) - Following an assessment of the current weather conditions, a decision has been made by the Department of Airport Operations (DAO) to extend the closure of the L.F. Wade International Airport until 8.00 p.m. this evening.

This is as a result of severe wind conditions being experienced in the vicinity.

Meanwhile, the DAO provided an update regarding the British Airways (BA) flight from Gatwick. The flight has been diverted and is scheduled to arrive at 9.15 p.m.

As an additional note the Air Canada flight from Toronto which has been delayed due to the weather conditions, is scheduled to arrive later this evening as well.

As a reminder the following flights have been cancelled for today:

Continental
Jet Blue
US Airways
Delta Airlines out of Atlanta

The DAO reminded that as airline schedules are subject to change, members of the public are strongly encouraged to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight information.

All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
