Wednesday, December 30th 2009 – 20 year old Tyevon Bean of Pembroke appeared in Magistrates’ Court charged with causing grievous bodily harm to 16 year old Jared Carlington of St. George’s during an attempted robbery on Wesley Street in the City of Hamilton around 6pm Monday, November 23rd, 2009.
As previously reported by Police around 6pm November 23rd Carlington was approached from behind by two unknown young men who demanded money while he was walking along Wesley Street. One of the would be robbers punched the teenager in the jaw several times before both suspects made good their escape on foot empty handed. Carlington suffered a broken jaw and a loose tooth as a result. He was taken to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment which included surgery on his jaw.
Bean was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident. Appearing before Magistrate Warner on Wednesday, the 20 year old defendant was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to re-appear before the court on Wednesday, February 3rd 2010 regarding this matter. |
