High Speed Chase/Injury RTC

At 8:25pm on Friday, a Police car on mobile patrol on Westside Road in Sandy ’s parish was in pursuit of a motorcycle, which was reported stolen on October 20th. It appears that the rider of the motorcycle lost control, collided with a wall and both he and his pillion passenger fell to the ground. The pursuing Police car then came upon the motorcycle and two young men lying in the road. The driver of the Police vehicle successfully avoided a collision with the cycle and the two suspects, but in doing so collided with a wall. At no time did the Police vehicle come into contact with the motorcycle or suspects. The rider of the 125cc motorcycle, a 15 year old young man from Southampton sustained bruising to his hands and his passenger, a 14 year old young man from Warwick sustained an injury to his left leg. The Police car’s airbags deployed and as a result, the female Police officer driving the vehicle and her front seat passenger, a male Police officer, sustained relatively minor injuries. The 14 year old is currently being treated at KEMH for his injury, while the 15 year old and both Police officers were treated at KEMH and released. Both the Police car and the motorcycle were extensively damaged. Inquiries into this incident are underway. Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to contact Sergeant Allan Meiguel on 234-1010.

All incidents are under investigation. Police are appealing to members of the public who have witnessed these incidents or may have information pertaining to them to contact their respective Police Station, Police Headquarters at 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 (800) 623-8477.
