September 5, 2005 will mark the second anniversary of Hurricane Fabian and the tragic loss of Police officers Stephen Symons and Nicole O'Connor, Station Duty Officer Gladys Saunders and Corporation of Hamilton worker Manuel Pacheco.

Members of the Bermuda Police Service are inviting members of the community to join them on Sunday, September 4, 2005 to remember and honour Stephen, Nicole, Gladys and Manuel with a Remembrance Motorcycle Ride.

The Service is asking members of the community to gather at Kindley Field Park from 1pm on Sunday, September 4. A minute of silence will be observed at the September 5th Memorial Bench prior to the motorcycle ride, which is expected to depart at 2pm. Anyone who has a motorcycle is encouraged to participate in this ride which will be escorted by Police motorcyclists. The ride will head towards Hamilton and will end at the Sports Fair on Front Street.

Members of the Bermuda Long Riders Club are supporting this event. They will leave the City Hall car park at 1pm and will travel as a group to Kindley Field Road to join the Remembrance Ride. Commemorative pins have been designed for this year's ride and will be available at Kindley Field Park. Proceeds from the sale of the pins will go to the September 5th Foundation, a registered charity that was established to benefit the children of those who were killed during the storm. The Foundation has raised more than $138,000 over the past two years.

The Police Service is expecting up to 200 motorcyclists to participate in this year's ride. The Service apologizes in advance to any motorists who may be slightly inconvenienced as the group of riders make their way into Hamilton.
