Road Sobriety Checkpoints: Friday Night Until Early Saturday Morning

Road sobriety checkpoints conducted Friday night until early Saturday morning ended with 3 impaired drivers arrested. Following initial and secondary field tests indicating impairment, two of the three drivers failed the alco-analyser test at Hamilton Police Station, while the third refused to take it. A total of 8 motorists required initial and secondary field tests, with 5 being cleared after the results of the secondary field test.



Reported Missing Person: 80 Year Old Richard Grant [Located]

The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for the public’s assistance in locating 80 year old Richard Grant. Mr. Grant – who was apparently last seen between 5:30pm and 6pm Thursday, November 8th sitting on the steps outside Somerset MarketPlace and may have been wearing a grey shirt at that time – is described as tall, brown complexioned of medium build, with a grey beard. Mr. Grant is known to travel by foot or on the bus and is said to frequent the City of Hamilton bus terminal, the Langton Hill Pembroke area, the Alexandra Road, Devonshire area as well as the Cooks Hill Road, Sandys parish area.



Sudden Death of 53 Year Old Wyman Minks

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 53 year old Mr. Wyman Minks and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends. Mr. Minks was found floating in an unresponsive state in waters near the Railway Trail along North Shore Road in Hamilton parish around 11am Thursday, November 8th.



Sudden Death of 66 Year Old Erroll Cross

On Thursday 1st November 2018 approximately 5:30pm police and officers from the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a structural fire at # 33 Scott’s Hill Road, Sandys wherein the two storey home was destroyed by the blaze. During the search of the home by fire personnel the body of a male person was recovered from within, in an unresponsive state, who was later pronounced deceased.



Car Crash in Southampton [Updated]

Around 4:55pm today (November 6th) police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a crash on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Church Road. Initial information suggests that a single car was involved. The male driver was hurt and has been transported to hospital via ambulance for treatment of his injuries, which are potentially serious.



Two Vehicle Collision in Devonshire [Updated]

Around 5:25pm today (November 5th) police and first responders were dispatched to a reported collision at the Barkers Hill round-a-bout in Devonshire. Initial details indicate that a motorcyclist and a car driver were involved. The rider, believed to be a 50 year old woman, was hurt. However, her injuries are not considered to be life threatening.



Sudden Death of 51 Year Old Selina-Mae Dean

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 51 year old Ms. Selina-Mae Dean and extends sincere condolences to her family and friends. Ms. Dean was found in an unresponsive state around 10am Sunday, November 4th at a Banana Lane, Warwick residence. She was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance but later pronounced dead.



Eleventh Road Fatality of 2018: 48 Year Old Arthur Wales

The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 48 year old Mr. Arthur Wales and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends. Mr. Wales was seriously injured when the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a truck on Cut Road in St. George’s at 6:53pm Saturday, November 3rd.



Fatal Collision on Cut Road in St. George's [Updated]

Police and first responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place on Cut Road in St. George's at 6:53pm tonight (Saturday). It appears that a 48 year old man was traveling west on Cut Road on a motorcycle when it appears that he collided with a truck. The man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.



Investigation Regarding Man's Death in Sandys Parish House Fire [Updated]

Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of a 66 year old man who died as a result of a fire that took place at 33 Scott’s Hill in Sandys today (Thursday). A full investigation has commenced with Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service and the Bermuda Police Service. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.



Official Public Unveiling of BPS Cancer Awareness Tribute Vehicle

An official public unveiling of the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) Tribute Vehicle highlighting cancer awareness took place at 12 noon today (October 31st) in front of City Hall in the City of Hamilton. At the event brief remarks were provided by Minister of National Security Wayne Caines, Commissioner of Police Stephen Corbishley, BPS Superintendent Na’imah Astwood, BPS Constable Linnell Williams (who suggested the idea), BPS Constable Nigel Richardson (who spoke to men’s prostate cancer awareness) and CEO of the Bermuda Cancer & Health Centre Mrs. Lynne Woolridge.



Public Transportation Plan for Both Public High Schools on Halloween

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police James Howard – After discussion with the Director of the Department of Public Transportation, the Bermuda Police Service has been assured that the bus schedule for both public high schools on Wednesday, October 31st (Halloween) will remain consistent with the official schedule. The Deputy Principal of Cedarbridge Academy and the Principal of The Berkeley Institute are aware of this initiative, which will assist in transporting students to their destinations in a more timely fashion and reduce the opportunity for students to congregate at the City of Hamilton bus terminal.



Deborah Corbishley Supports BPS Cancer Awareness Initiative

Deborah Corbishley, Wife of the Commissioner of Police - I wholeheartedly support the Bermuda Police Service’s message to increase breast cancer awareness. Other businesses have been doing the same. People may ask why so much publicity when there are other illnesses people suffer from. The reason is one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. This means it is very likely someone you know will be facing this disease. It can be due to a number of lifestyle factors such as alcohol, obesity, hereditary to name but a few, some of which we can personally identify with.



Policing Plan & Safety Advice for Halloween

Halloween is fast approaching and on Wednesday, October 31st many children and adults will dress up in costumes to enjoy a host of activities across the island. Typically children taking part in the festivities will go door to door to collect candy and adults will also gather at a variety of private Halloween functions. Patrons attending Halloween parties are asked to act in a responsible manner. Carefully consider your options and the consequences. If you intend on consuming alcohol – please, do not make the mistake of driving whilst impaired. Poor choices can have long term ramifications.



Burglary at Cycle Care Warehouse: 4 Motorcycles Taken, 3 Recovered

Police responded to a report of a burglary that took place at Cycle Care warehouse in Pembroke sometime over the weekend. It appears that somone gained entry into the warehouse and removed 4 motorcycles. Three motorcycles have been recovered and police are interested in speaking with anyone who may have any information that can assist police in this investigation.



BPS Tribute Vehicle to Highlight Cancer Awareness

The scourge of cancer has had a profound impact on Bermuda over the years and the Bermuda Police Service is not immune to the impact of the awful disease. Many of our staff have battled the disease and are now survivors and others have sadly lost their lives to cancer. October and November are two months set aside for cancer awareness. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and November is Men's Health Awareness Month with a focus on Prostate Cancer.



Reopening of Southside & Somerset Police Station Front Counter Service

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police James Howard - I would like to take this opportunity to inform the community that the ‘front counter service’ of both the Southside Police Station and the Somerset Police Station will be reopened as of Thursday 1st of November 2018. The hours of operation will commence at 8:00am until 8:00pm seven days a week.  Hamilton Police Station will be the only station with front office service, 24 hours a day 7 days a week.



Criminal Records Office / Vetting Department Moving to New Location

The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) wishes to inform the public that, as of Monday 29th October 2018, the Criminal Records Office (CRO) / Vetting Department will be located at the Dame Lois Browne-Evans Building at 58 Court Street, Hamilton (the same location as the BPS Court Liaison Unit). Hours of operation remain the same – 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.  We would also like to remind the public that since 1st September 2018, the BPS no longer accepts monetary payments (cash, cheques etc.) for police reports, clearance certificates / criminal record checks or fingerprinting.



Man Stabbed Multiple Times on Harbour Road in Paget [Updated]

Police and first responders attended a report of an incident that took place outside a residence on Harbour Road in the area of Valley Road in Paget around 2:53am this morning (Tuesday). It appears that a 43 year old male was traveling from his place of employment in Dockyard on a motorcycle when he was accosted by two males on a motorcycle as he was traveling home.



Appeal Regarding Four Recent Firearm Incidents

Detective Chief Inspector Arthur Glasford – Over the last four weeks there have been four firearm incidents within a 1.5 mile radius of each other, where unscrupulous gunmen discharged firearms indiscriminately and put the lives of innocent individuals in those environments at risk. As many will recall, gunshots were fired in the following neighbourhoods recently:
