Reported Robbery at Maxi Mart in Sandys Parish

Around 11:40pm Tuesday, February 6th police officers responded to a reported robbery at Maxi Mart in Sandys parish.

It appears that a lone male, described as approximately 6 feet 4 inches tall of slim build wearing dark coloured clothing, entered the store brandishing a bladed article and demanded money.

However, the suspect was unable to get any cash and made good his escape with a quantity of tobacco and cigarette papers.

No one was hurt during the incident. Police officers searched the surrounding area for the suspect, but he was not located.

Inquiries continue and any witnesses or persons with relevant information are asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744 or the independent and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.

Single Vehicle Damage Only Van Crash in Sandys Parish

Around 5:20pm Tuesday, February 6th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported single vehicle damage only crash near the junction of Somerset Road and West Side Road in Sandys parish.

It appears that a van being driven along Somerset Road struck a wall and ended up on its side.

There were no injuries reported. However, the van and wall were damaged.
